In highly complex industrial sectors, the digitalization of training and operational processes now represents a strategic competitive advantage. For the Oil & Gas industry, Ophir’s R&D team has designed and developed an advanced interactive digital twin, built in Unreal Engine and set within a technically accurate recreation of a desert oil drilling site. The platform replicates a fully operational drilling facility at true scale, allowing users to freely explore the environment and interact with key oil drilling machines. Through guided interaction, the system clearly and accessibly explains equipment functions, workflows, safety procedures, and core operational principles. Enhanced with real-time operational data connectivity and AI-powered support, the digital twin can integrate live data streams from machinery and sensors, visualize equipment performance, and provide contextual explanations or scenario simulations tailored to user needs. By combining immersive visualization, live data integration, and intelligent assistance, the project transforms a complex industrial site into a powerful, scalable tool for training, operational awareness, and stakeholder communication.
